Introduction:
Mariokart7 is one of the best mariokart games of the series. Anybody who doesn’t want a 3DS should think twice. With very little flaws mariokart is back and better than ever.
Story:
Mariokart7 doesn’t really have a real story. The story is the same just like the past six games. An annual competition is being held known as the Mariokart. This is named after the brave Italian plumber. Nothing new really. The story isn’t really what matters it’s the gameplay and mechanics that I care about in a Mariokart game.
Gameplay:
I’ll start with the good things and then I’ll go to the bad things. This game had a lot of new characters and most of the old ones. It was sad to see that Waluigi (one of the most famous Mario sport characters) leave and get replaced with someone else. The new tilting mechanics work really nice. As most of you guys know, the Nintendo 3DS has a new gyroscope function. Well, this game makes great use of that. You can also switch to a first-person view and tilt the 3DS system to drive. This is really funny because when I played the DS version I had a habit of tilting the ds to prevent me from falling, but know it actually helps. This mechanic can get a little awkward at times, especially if you were trying to use the new Paraglider function. More on that later. There’s also a new customization system that’s really fun. If you try different combinations of tires, cars, and even hang gliders. My only wish was if they could take this to a new level like make your own kart change the color, good stuff like that. They brought back coins in Mariokart7. The last time I saw coins was in the GBA version. The coins make your car’s max speed a lot faster. The new hang glider works really nice. It can unlock new shortcuts and add more fun to the experience as well. This game also has a new underwater track. It’s kind of useless, but I like it. The 3D in the game was very disappointing. No depth nothing fun to look at just a screen with sharper graphics. The Online mode is amazing. I thought that it was the best and the fastest online function in any 3DS game. You can form your own communities. I can’t wait to see how they evolve over the years.
Graphics:
Although the graphics weren’t as good as the Wii version, it was just a step below. The tracks were very pretty and colorful. All the tracks were slightly challenging. The game has sixteen new tracks and sixteen old tracks. Most of the older tracks have been modified and some were the same. It was interesting looking at all the beautifully rendered tracks from the older games. The newer tracks were also very fun. It had a really nice variety of barely hard and really hard.
Conclusion:
This game is the best game in the series. It’s a really nice handheld game. I really recommend this game to anyone who owns a 3DS system.
Overall:
9.5/10 Masterpiece
